Pantry Staples


When one is first starting out, it is difficult to know what to stock and what to purchase for special dishes.  The following is a list of items that would provide a full and expansive larder for private consumption and unexpected guests.  However, one need not carry all of these items all at once, but focus on what you currently use every day or every week and gradually incorporate the other items into your grocery list and diet.

None of these items are exotic or super expensive, merely representing the well rounded, well-stocked pantry.  Apart from the fresh produce and dairy, most items should experience a long shelf life and come in handy during cases of unexpected hospitality or emergency as well:
